Michelle Jewell Funston Learning Lab
Individualized academic support to help students grow with confidence.
Mission
The mission of the Michelle Funston Learning Lab is to provide scientifically-based academic support in an individualized or small-group setting for students who have been identified as needing extra support.
reading Support
Students needing dyslexia-based reading instruction are provided lessons by a Neuhaus-trained Reading Interventionist.
Referal process
To qualify for Learning Lab services, students must be referred by the homeroom teacher and have a recommendation from the Director of Lower School or the Educational Interventionist.
Continued support
The Learning Lab is available to any student in K-3rd grade. As students enter upper elementary grades and Middle School, students diagnosed with Dyslexia or other learning difficulties may continue to receive varying levels of support and accommodations, depending on his or her needs and recommendations from a licensed professional.
The interventionist will provide on-site support, monitor students’ progress, consult with classroom teachers, and provide specific, skilled instruction as needed.
